Maria Belshaw is an amazing and honest agent who cares!Have you been priced out of California? Have you been told you can’t get a home loan because you are self-employed? Are you a blue-collar worker or an older adult with little prospect of improving your earning capacity before you retire? I was told I would never qualify for a home loan. Banks laughed me out of their lobby. One loan officer rolled his eyes dramatically before tossing my application in the trash and walking away. Some just pretended they never received an application from me at all. The banks didn’t care that I had perfect credit. It did not matter that I had never defaulted on anything in my life. The only thing they cared about was income, and mine is far less than the median. Add the fact that I am a single divorcee, nearing retirement age, and self-employed in an industry with a 75% failure rate for new business owners. Clearly, if I did manage to get a loan, the rates would be so predatory that I would lose the house to foreclosure. But Maria was different. She didn’t rush me off the phone. She wasn’t distracted and only half listening to what I said. To the contrary, I could tell she was listening intently and taking notes. I called the next day. Maria did not ghost me. She answered on the first ring and asked if I had looked at houses? I said no, I already picked out a home. I’ve been renting my dream house for 13 years and want to purchase it from the landlord. I already had the house appraised. I knew I could afford it if she found a loan with payments equal to, or less than the rent I was currently paying. MARIA ACCEPTED THE CHALLENGE!I purchased the house on January 19, 2022. It was the happiest day of my life! Maria walked lockstep with me through every obstacle! Of course, the biggest obstacle was the price. That obstacle was overcome when Maria helped negotiate a $100,000.00 price drop with the landlord. And then, she procured a fixed rate loan for me at 3.25% interest with no prepayment penalties. My house payments, tax and insurance are the same as the rent I was paying.
